I wrote that in July 2016 and never got around to finishing it. Forgive me for this year long procrastination. I think by now it's pretty clear which one of us two is an avid writer and which isn't *shameless smirk*.

Looking back at what I've written, I would say that I've changed (progressed?) a lot in one year's time. There has been major changes in my career, relationship and social life. I'm no longer working in the same company, mainly due to the lack of direction and the sense that most of the things I did was futile. Nevertheless, I did grow and learn a lot more about myself in the two and a half years I spent there. I've since worked freelance and also had more time to focus on Square One, which did flourish and was something I truly enjoyed. After a few months of that, I decided to go back into working full time, mainly due to the need for a more stable revenue stream. I've since put the Square One business on hold, as there was simply too much going on at the same time, but I do intend on re-opening it once everything is settled.

Relationship-wise, I made the choice of moving on to something that I felt is more right for me in the long-term. It was the scariest and hardest decision of my life, but it's a choice I made after some deliberate thinking. This is still a bit of a sensitive topic as of right now, so more on this later.

In terms of social life, due to the recent changes in career and relationship (oh by the way, I've moved houses too), I've also been more socially active. I'm spending more time with my friends, some new and some old, and I realise this is something I've missed doing ever since Uni.

I would say that it has definitely been a challenging year for me, one that required me to make a lot of adult decisions and having to suck up and deal with the consequences of it. Despite this I am quite glad to say that I am still content with everything that I have today, and I still go by the motto of living life positively, getting the things you want (more action, less talk) so you won't look back with any regrets.
'Do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life'

When you look fully into how many days and hours we have on this planet, you might freak yourself out like I do each time I think about it. You realise there really isn't that much time, the hours fly by and you especially don't want to spend them on moments that waste your time. I've been struggling these past few months, making me realign my focuses and try to do things that I'm truly passionate about.

Can I say, when you love doing something it's not exhausting. It doesn't drain you, make you feel sick about going back to it, or even makes you time watch. Doing what you love empowers you, makes you feel exhilarated and you can still work on it at midnight without realising that you aren't tired. That's when you know you're doing something you love.

Yet, life isn't as easy at that, being able to do what you love means that you either have to take a risk on it, or possibly give up something else. This is the most difficult part, am I ready to risk this chance to do what I love, but possibly having to give up some financial freedom or stability? Can I take this chance? These are the questions that burden each part of my thinking day to day, these days I love the idea of focusing solely on doing what I love. Yet, I'm terribly afraid, I let fear dominate my decision and continue to do something that I'm not passionate about at all. There's this little black cloud in the back of my mind, always doubting my ability, convincing myself that I can't do something. I need to start pushing that dark cloud away because sometimes you need to take risks.

Go away little black cloud, you're not welcome here today. Instead, let's replace you with a rainbow full of hope that taking risks will pay off.

Hello, it's me, I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet...

So... it's been a while, I took a well needed break whilst my creative thought process was buffering in the background. These few months have been exhausting but also some of the greatest, I turned 24 and I had a very quiet birthday. My family stayed over for the month so I got to spend some time with them, two of my closest friends came to Hong Kong for the first time and it was the best. Even though it was tiring, I thoroughly enjoyed playing host and seeing Hong Kong through my friends' eyes. They made me fall in love with Hong Kong all over again.

Usually, if I take a break or put something off for a long time then I think to apologise first, but sometimes, you truly just need to take a break. Don't be too hard on yourself and if you can't think or don't have the desire to finish that task straight away, then you might need to stop it for a while and come back to it.

I'm at a point in my life too, to just focus on the things that matter and do what I enjoy, especially in my spare time. I do want to write and create more content, I wish I could truly dedicate my time to it, but I'll focus on it when I want to. After all, if you're not in the mood to complete something, the outcome will never be as great compared to when you actually dedicate your time to it.

I'll be back, but I won't make any promises when.

But honestly, I think it's because I've been lazy. Just a warning that this is going to be quite a negative post, just a lot of complaining and letting things out.

Can you believe it's July already?! Where did the first half of 2016 go? What have I done that's even worth mentioning. I think the main highlight of this year so far has been moving. But I haven't even gotten round to making it look and feel the way I want to yet. It's missing a proper TV stand, a rug, proper lights...looks like it's IKEA this weekend!

So the real problem is I've been feeling rather down lately. It may be hormones. But it may also be because I realize I'm turning 25 in 22 days time, and I'm hitting a quarter life crisis. I feel like I am complaining to myself and to anyone who bothers to listen, about not knowing what I want to do with my life, especially career-wise, but not actually doing anything to change that. This is the kind of attitude in people that I despise the most, and yet I'm now the biggest culprit. I know that half the job is getting started, but I don't know where to start. Or what to get started on.

There's nothing quite as timeless as the little black dress, this one is a staple in my wardrobe.

Minimalistic May, hands up who even knew this was a thing? I heard about it on twitter a few weeks ago and even though I've been downsizing slowly, I thought I would mention this again. Honestly though, everyone has their own approach to a minimalistic lifestyle, I talked about it here last month. I pledged to stop hoarding and banned myself from buying clothes. So far it's been going great, I even resisted temptation when I went shopping last week and nothing has really caught my eye.

Aims for May:
- Clean out the wardrobe- I really need to Marie Kondo the hell out of my wardrobe. The cleaning goddess would not be happy at the state of my wardrobe. Hope this cuts my 10 minutes of deciding what to wear conundrum each morning.
- Plan a capsule wardrobe- I'm aiming to keep roughly 40 items in my wardrobe and build a capsule wardrobe so let's see how it goes!
- Recycle, recycle, recycle- Anything I'm not using should be donated, there's no point keeping things I don't need.
- Wipe down everything- Keeping things clean in my eyes is another form of minimalism, nothing like a clean slate to please the mind.
- Meditation- Aside from the things around me, I also need to tidy up my mind! As a daily vivid dreamer, my brain is constantly on, I need to turn it off and empty it out at night.

For me minimalism is the way forward, simple is good. Are you keen to adopt the less is more strategy or do you prefer having more things?

I get knocked down, but I get up again. You're never gonna keep me down...

I won't lie, staying positive is difficult, especially if you're going through things, all I can say is that it will pass and the cheesy things like it will make you a stronger person (it really does). Obviously though, our brains don't think of this straightaway, and we get caught up in the negatives of each situation. I wouldn't say I'm a sunshine and rainbows kind of girl, my cynicism and worrying can lead to negativity but majority of the time I am pretty positive.

I haven't always stayed positive, but in recent years I realised positive thinking is the better way for me to get through things. I found that things always had a strange way of solving themselves and that everything ended up being fine. Some things that I found to help in positive thinking:

Write down/ think about what you're grateful for:
It could be simple things, a bed, supportive family and friends, somewhere to relax in, being healthy, a shelter. Little things add up to a lot. After a long and exhausting day at work, I've never been more grateful for somewhere to sleep and go back to.

Take a break from it:
Enjoy a day of doing something fun or something that relaxes you, whatever makes you happy, it keeps your spirits up and hell, you definitely deserve a break. Sometimes you just need a little time away from the situation at hand.

Don't Sweat the Small stuff:
I've always known about this, but I've never really practiced it. in the words of Richard Carlson himself, one of my favourite things he said from his books was-

'One of the mistakes many of us make is that we feel sorry for ourselves, or for others thinking that life should be fair, or that someday it will be. It's not and it won't. When we make this mistake we tend to spend a lot of time wallowing and/or complaining about what's wrong with life. 'It's not fair,' we complain, not realising that, perhaps, it was never intended to be.'

Let's get those positive vibes flowing.
Next month is Mother's Day in Hong Kong and the USA, so if you were pondering where to spoil your favourite lady, I have just the suggestion. The Intercontinental hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, has several high tea sets to choose from. The cosy lounge means you get a wonderful view of the harbour (weather permitting) and the service is great too.

There are four high tea sets to choose from, feeling spendy we chose the champagne tea set and soon it was flowing. The sets have three layers, savoury sandwiches at the bottom, mouth watering cakes in the middle and jams on the top. As well a warm basket of scones, are you getting hungry?

We made our way up, starting with the scones first, then the sandwiches too. The cakes were all delicious but they definitely get sickly so I would recommend you take it in turns having the savoury sandwiches with the cakes ;) overall though, it was a lovely treat, and something your mum's will enjoy too :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12944143970928836767noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-681101749661381995.post-23238940590792068572016-04-17T07:00:00.000+08:002016-04-23T11:03:44.382+08:00Ham Tin Wan, Tai Long Wan- Sai Kung

Last weekend, after getting jealous of everyone's beautiful beach pictures, we decided to hit one ourselves. Getting to Tai Long Wan is a little tricky, we went to Choi Hung MTR station first, got the 1A green minibus from exit C1 to Sai Kung Centre. Once we reached Sai Kung, we walked over to the pier front and found a boat taxi to take us over to Tai Long Wan. The ticket cost us about $200 which was pretty expensive, but we did get the whole boat to ourselves and the boat ride took around 40 minutes. Tai Long Wan is split into four areas- Sai Wan, Ham Tin Wan, Tai Wan and Tong Wan. We got directed to go to Ham Tin Wan as the beach was bigger there as well as having a restaurant and public toilet facilities. All of the beaches are accessible by the hiking trails.

We didn't end up taking the private boat back to Sai Kung Pierfront, (try to book it at the restaurant as the latest boat leaves around 5pm) but we hiked it back to civilization instead. The hike took us two hours in total, and it was all up hill which explained why we never saw any hikers behind us. Nevertheless, once we hit the top of the mountain we felt so proud of ourselves. The hike is part of the famous Maclehose Trail and walked over to Sai Wan Road.

Ham Tin Wan is a lovely beach, and is hidden away from the usual bustle that beaches have these days. Really relaxing and clean, but it's definitely not as convenient compared to beaches in Repulse Bay. Be prepared to hike, or spend some money on the boat taxis if you don't feel like the two hour hike over and bring supplies. Yes, that man made bridge is terrifying, so wear some comfy shoes.

It was Art Week in Hong Kong a few weeks ago and my friend and I were debating which one to go to- Art Basel or Art Central? Art Basel is known for it's international appeal of art work, this time with artists like Tracey Emin flying over to Hong Kong. Whereas Art Central was mostly local and Asian artists, with a few Western artists too. We purchased the early bird that admitted two people for $280 and went over on the last day.

One of the first installations that we saw as soon as you entered Art Central, were these beautiful moving Swarovski crystal art works that would move if you made sound around it. Kids were happily clapping away trying to get it to move, and I was busy stomping to see how it would react.

In total we spent four hours walking around and really appreciated how much work went into each piece of art work. The paintings below were my favourites, I love nature as it is but the detail that went into the canvas was extraordinary. You can watch the video above to experience Art Central too :)
I love going out for brunch too, but sometimes I feel lazy doing that so staying at home and making something is the easier option for me.

Here are my go to recipes:

Scrambled eggs on toast

(Double up the recipe for the amount of people you have)

What you will need:
Two eggs, salt and pepper, milk, two slices of bread of your choice.

Firstly, crack your two eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt for flavour and a dash of milk. When you've whipped these all together, heat up your frying pan with oil. Pour the mixture in and keep the heat to a low- medium. Now here's the technique- grab a wooden spatula and slowly fold in part of the mixture that looks cooked by dragging the edge of the spatula into the middle of the pan. Keep on doing that by bringing your eggs into the middle (per Jamie Oliver- this is the french scrambled egg method). Then you have perfect scrambled eggs that are a great balanced of cooked with that runny side. Toast up two slices of bread, add the eggs on top and your dash of pepper to serve.

Fluffy American Pancakes
(Makes two servings)

What you will need:
Self raising flour/ plain flour- then add a tablespoon of baking powder, one egg, a pinch of salt, milk- half a cup and fruit/ toppings of your choice

Measure out half a cup of flour (my cup was 500ml), half a cup of milk, and pour this into a bowl, crack in your egg and the pinch of salt, mix this all together. Heat up your frying pan (would recommend you use a non stick one) and carefully ladle up one portion into the middle of the frying pan. Put the frying pan on a low- medium heat and wait for little bubbles to form, flip them over and cook for a few mins. Decorate with your choice of fruit- I love fresh blueberries and raspberries with a drizzle of agave nectar.

French Toast with cinnamon sugar

(Double the ingredients for how many servings you need)

What you will need:
Two eggs, vanilla extract, milk, two pieces of stale bread, white sugar, cinnamon

Preferably, leave your bread out the night before for it to harden or toast your bread for a few minutes. Whip your two eggs, add in a dash of vanilla and a dash of milk. Pour your mixture onto a tray and soak in one slice of the bread at a time, making sure each side is fully covered. Heat up your non stick pan and add some oil, put your bread in the pan and cook it on a low- medium heat. Flip it over so the other side is done and repeat this with the other slice of bread. In a seperate bowl, add a teaspoon of white sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon, mix this together. To serve, layer your slices of french toast together and delicately sprinkle your cinnamon sugar mix on top.

I also have to give a shout out to my other breakfast love- avocado on toast, sadly I have no photos of it but you literally mash one avocado and spread it on two slices of bread! The only difficult part is waiting for the avocado to perfectly ripen. Those avocado problems tho.

Hope you enjoy these easy recipes, and let me know what you love having for brunch!

Sometime in February, I got hooked on Youtube videos about capsule wardrobes and TED Talks about all your life possessions in one box. This led to me feel super overwhelmed with the amount of stuff that I had scattered around my flat. I felt like I was squished and the space I had was getting smaller and smaller. So, I decided to stop buying unnecessary things, what counts as unnecessary you say?

Clothes, I have a wardrobe full, and several suitcases underneath my bed with clothing too. Do I really need any more? The answer is no, so I decided to go on a month cleanse (I realised I had been buying at least one item of clothing every month) and not purchase any clothing. After the month was up, it dawned on me that I could keep on going and I've extended this goal to a further three months. I can't say it's been easy, it really hasn't. Hong Kong has endless streets of clothing, but I just take a deep breath and think about my collapsing wardrobe (it really has fallen on me before!)

Beauty items are something that I hoard too, I have tubs and tubs of moisturiser that are stacked in my wardrobe. For skincare, I decided to group everything that I have in one bag, even the samples, so that if I run out of my current skincare items I would check the bag to see if I had anything that I could use as a replacement.

Some tips that have helped me:

- The one in, one out rule- Do you own five pairs of black jeans? Do you really need another pair of black jeans? Unless you're working in Zara, I think you don't need another pair. So, each time I've seen something that is similar (you can apply it to anything in your wardrobe actually) I think- do I need this and if I buy this what do I throw out? If you can't bear to part with something, then don't buy something else!

- Stay away from temptation- This is a toughie, but I used to spend a lot of time just browsing through online shops and in store, I've cut this down a lot just so I don't get tempted into seeing something I don't actually need.

- Take a picture of your wardrobe- If you've always bought something that's similar to an item you already own, this tip might save your life. Bookmark the picture and each time you're about to buy a piece of clothing, refer to your wardrobe picture to see if you already own a similar item.

- Take your time- By this I don't mean, take your time looking through clothes shop, I mean if you see something you really want to buy, put it down and sleep on it. If after two weeks you still want it, then go ahead and buy it. Impulsive decisions always lead to more expensive outcomes.

- Timeless pieces- Maybe your wardrobe is full of 'trendier' items, refrain from buying brightly coloured bomber jackets that will only get two wears. Instead buy things that will last, that you can easily pair with other items in your wardrobe and you can get 30+ wears out of them.

- Treat yo self- So, this might contradict what I've been typing up there, but I think if you've not bought anything for a while, or maybe you're saving up for something you really want and it will last, go get it! Right now I have my eye on a sneaky Monica Vinader ring ;) just because I'm not shopping now doesn't mean I won't ever shop again. I always seem to have something on my list....
Don't get fooled by the name, this park is actually located at Meifoo. Exit from the MTR and you'll find yourself right in the middle of it. Like most recreational parks in Hong Kong, Lai Chi Kok Park is a breath of fresh air, equipped with all the facilities you could think of.

At work, we're starting the most anticipated time of the year where everyone gets their Appraisals done, and find out whether they're doomed or doing well. I think the question on most people's minds is definitely, "will I get a pay raise?", especially in a city like Hong Kong, where money is king.

Personally, the question I find myself thinking about the most at this time of the year is, what should my new goals be? What skills should I develop?

I realize again and again that my greatest strength and downfall is my ability to get hyped up and enthusiastic about learning about a new thing, then failing to commit to it till the end. Do you guys have this problem? Also, how do you find time to do all the things you want to do?

I'm determined to complete these by the end of April:

HTML5 & CSS lessons (Codecademy)

Adobe Illustrator lessons (Tutsplus)

HK food video

This will probably be the easiest DIY ever, I wanted a wall clock for my place but I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on it. I spotted this plain IKEA plastic clock, the RUSCH for $12.90 which was a great deal. The clock is not the best made and is pretty plain so I knew that I wanted to jazz it up a tad.

Firstly, choose your colours and style, I wanted a gold and black theme and I knew polka dots is where I wanted to go. You could also use spray paint, or line the edges. This paint is one that is suitable for wood, plastic and ceramic surfaces.

I cleaned and dried the clock of any dust then added the dots to the clock sporadically, and left it to dry.
We forget about ourselves. Myself especially, I to say the words, have always lacked self belief. If you ask me to back and support my friends and family, I would wholeheartedly do it, yet I would never give myself that support. Oh dear mind, why must we treat ourselves so badly, yet others so well. We should do both, they should go hand in hand.

Being older and wiser and all that crap, mostly it's life lessons (through work), I realised that I <strike>should</strike> need to give myself the benefit of the doubt and know that I'm fully capable of taking control and just getting shit done. For most of my life, I've always looked as myself as possibly a follower not a leader, that I couldn't ever do things on my own. However, circumstances have definitely changed, I've been learning that you only limit yourself. I've been so self conscious all my life that I would never do a good job, or that I shouldn't be the one in charge, that eventually it would be easier on myself and whatever I was doing to just do the damn thing. As humans, you get stuck in your own box and end up limiting yourself, but step outside it, bit by bit and you'll get to realising that you can definitely take control.

Self- belief is a struggle, it's definitely not something you'll wake up one day and have. It's a learning process, push those doubts that you have at the back of your head and ignore those people that say you can't. You definitely can. Start with small things, then work your way up, soon enough you'll be girl bossing it. That's my goal anyways.
A video I didn't think I would do but my room is such an important place for me, it's the place I go to relax in and cosy up in. I'm most grateful for this small place I call home, and get so giddy every night when I can jump into bed from an exhausting day. Welcome to my humble little room, but it's mine and I adore it. Yet, even though my family has always hoarded a lot of things, they've been pretty frugal with what they purchase. Whereas, when it came to me, I always craved for more expensive things and thought they would make me feel better. My mum and sister have no interest at all in designer and expensive items, however, I would browse through luxury online websites and blogs adding items to my wishlist.

Last year, I bought my first slightly expensive handbag, after a long time deciding and a while saving up for it. I loved buying it and still love using it, but there was some kind of void that I thought would be fulfilled when I purchased it, kind of a 'more glam' vibe, I can't particularly describe it but I thought owning an expensive thing would make myself feel better.

Skip to a few months down the line, I eyed up a Mulberry Lily, a brand that was in my wishlist for a long time, and my lovely family actually trekked all the way to Bicester Village just to help me buy it. After hearing that they bought it and I finally fulfilled one of my <strike>'goals'</strike> of purchasing a Mulberry, I didn't feel any different. I thought that buying something luxurious and expensive would make myself feel better, but it really didn't. I've never been a materialistic person in some senses, I know that money doesn't buy happiness but yet I was always addicted with the notion of having expensive things.

I realised though, after that moment, that owning things won't make you a better person, it might make you happier in the moment and actually when you save up it does feel great. Yet, this is a fleeting feeling, it'll disappear and won't keep you going. Other things will, hard work, accepting yourself, but owning something else doesn't fulfill that. I've kind of turned things around a bit, and started thinking of the bigger picture, I've actually set myself a goal of not buying anything unnecessary for the next few months. I'll let you know how that goes, minimalism is a new approach that I want to adapt. Also, I'm not saying don't treat yourself to a new bag, go for it as you fully deserve it, just remember that sometimes things aren't everything to life.
Yes, you read it right, November! Talk about slow editing, am I right? I'm a big procrastinator, so editing and I are slowing forming a stable relationship. I'm still adjusting to editing, which combines umming and ahhing over whether the clips look good. Causes a hell of a lot of problems, but I'm getting there! These clips were combined together from a weekend in November, giving a little insight of alternative things to do in Hong Kong, especially cycling- Tai Po really is great for cycling.

Also, if you're a editing noob like moi and using a windows laptop, I use Filmora Wondershare to edit these videos. I bought the paid version which cost me around 200HKD for a year, a pretty good deal for software (after searching the internet- yes I looked into page 10!)

Filmora is pretty easy to use, more advanced that the built in Windows video editing, and costs a fraction of the price of the Adobe video editor. They also have video tutorials and I find the layout pretty easy to use, you can try out their free version too but it has their watermark embedded into your videos.

Looking forward to sharing more videos with you all, and please subscribe to our youtube channel for more videos!

1. Sai Kung
Sai Kung is one of those places where there's probably more dogs than humans. You can take your dog for a walk along the ferry port, the path takes you pass some green fields where your dogs can play a game of fetch, or walk further down the path to a dog-friendly beach. Sai Kung is also full of dog-friendly cafes and restaurants, so you can spend a whole day from breakfast to dinner there with your pooch.

2. West Kowloon Promenade
West Kowloon has a massive field where you can have a nice picnic while your pooch makes some friends with other pooches. This park is great for your dogs to run free, but do watch out for the bicycles on the cycling path. The location isn't very convenient though, so make sure you bring some food and drinks with you if you're planning to stay for the day.

3. Olympics
Olympics is the most convenient spot for me because it's the closest to my house. Outside of the Olympian City mall, there's a spacious area for the dogs to roam freely. Most of the dogs usually come here around 4 to 6pm, then 8 to 10pm. This is a good place to bring your dog if you happen to live nearby and is looking to take your dog for a casual walk.

4. Victoria Peak Garden
This secret garden in the hills is away from the traffic and crowds, and definitely a top spot to bring your dog on a weekend. A great place for a picnic with your family and friends, though not the easiest place to get to. However, your dog will love the fresh air and the beautiful grass up here, while you enjoy a good view of Hong Kong.

5. Penfold Park
Penfold Park is the dog park of Hong Kong. Massive, green and filled with dog and dog lovers, it's the perfect spot for you to bring your pooch. Check the opening hours because this park is closed on jockey racing days.

A little note from us! Happy Chinese New Year, it was spent enjoying the long five day holiday away from the stresses of work. We both spent it with our families and loved it, not going to lie, we're a bit bummed out that we have to return to work tomorrow but at least it's a short week for us.

This year is the year of the Monkey, but unfortunately Hong Kong started off the new year to bad spirits with the Mong Kok riots, a conflicting tale for another time. As I've only been in Hong Kong for a few years now, this was my third Chinese New Year, previously I didn't hype up this holiday as much as it deserved (the atmosphere isn't as great in the UK). But honestly? It is part of my culture and heritage and even though there is a lot of faff to it, it's also the best time because families unite and spend valuable time together.

My friends spotted this fascinating purple burger in Kowloon City, so how could I pass up this offer? This is located at Eighty Sense, chicken 'purple' (taro) one of their specialities, also priced at the most affordable 40 HKD (from the top of my head!). As Eighty Sense is just a take out place (with only two seats), we had to grab our burgers and head off to find somewhere comfortable to enjoy them.

Kowloon Walled City Park is part of Hong Kong's history of the tight packed community of flats that were built around the 16th Century, the park sits on this area. Dotted around the park are filled with miniature scaled models of how people were living during those times. Even looking through the models it surprised me how people could live in such tight quarters during those times.

It's not the most well known tourist spot of Hong Kong in comparison to the Peak or Tsim Sha Tsui promenade but I think if you have more time in Hong Kong, this place is worth a visit, also Kowloon City has some fantastic restaurants too ;)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12944143970928836767noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-681101749661381995.post-50362203549994063792016-01-16T11:02:00.002+08:002016-01-16T11:02:56.763+08:00Boutique Buys

Hong Kong is filled with independent boutiques and it's great to shop locally. Unfortunately, the rent in Hong Kong is extremely high, if a business can stay open for over a year it's considered a success here. This makes it more difficult for small business owners, but luckily Hong Kong has a great aray of boutiques and social media also makes it easier for independent owners to promote their items through facebook or Instagram.

I love browsing through the independent sellers and seeing what they have to offer. Boutiques gives you a different choice and sometimes you find something incredibly unique. I picked up these items a few weeks ago at a few places, the cat ring was from a plaza in Kwai Chung that is full of independent sellers. The inspirational postcard is hand written and drawn lovingly by a typography seller, with one of the best quotes. As if I need anymore necklaces? I couldn't help myself from buying this space rock, yet the picture doesn't do this necklace justice as it has subtle colours that show whenever the light hits it.

A few of my favourite independent shopping centres:
You take a path and you reach the middle and can only take
one route. By the side is an old man, and he tells you that if you take the left
path- and he will give you map and you will be able to find a way out of the
dead end. Whereas, the right path, it will guide you to a dead end where
it will take you a long time to figure out how to get out.

It’s a no brainer right? You would choose the left path for
sure. However, if we apply this theory to the affairs of the heart, I think
most of us lean towards the right path, we decide to keep on going down this
unknowing path, not sure what the outcome will be but we waste our time on the
right path thinking we will be able to find our way out. Reality hits, and
thinks that the left path should have been my first choice but surely it’s too
late now? We cling on to this hope, the hope that we will find our way out of there, or in real terms, that the person you desperately are clinging on to will show you the affection you've been wanting.

I think I’ve been fighting between the two paths lately,
lying to myself thinking that I chose the left path- having the map and
directions to get out, when really all along I’ve been stuck on the right path,
not sure where I’m going. It's not a bad thing, please don't take it as a bad thing, sometimes we need to be stuck somewhere, not quite know where to go so we can figure out a way out of there.

I want to make a choice, and choose the left one, to take
the directions and get out. Let's not stay in here anymore.

What a year 2015 was! We've learned, laughed, been frustrated, loved, travelled, changed. Here's are some of our favourite highlights from 2015:

Sophia

2015 really felt like a year when I overcame my fears. I ran my first marathon, achieved some of my goals and <strike>got over</strike> broke down my fear of rejection. I embraced the quote 'everything you want is on the other side of fear'. Previously, I was scared of a lot of things and I got the chance to overcome them in 2015.

I realised that I needed to start believing in myself and I could achieve the things that I want to do, previously I would of never thought that I could complete and run a marathon but I did. To never give up on something because it's difficult, to open up a bit more and to try new things. My favourite moments from 2015? Seeing Ed Sheeran live in concert, ticking off three new places on my travel list- Amsterdam, Malaysia and Philippines, visiting even more places in Hong Kong and enjoying and appreciating my family and friends. I really loved 2015, it was a big learning curve for me, full of ups and downs but overall a great year. Especially in the life lessons of realising nothing is perfect and happiness is a state of mind rather than a goal. 2015 was a big year of reflection for me and to overcome the limitations that I had put on myself.

Things that I will take for 2016? To keep on dreaming of new goals and trying to fulfil them, look after myself better- my brain and my body, being a better person towards society and to find something worth waking up for each morning. 2016 I'm totally ready for you, here's to another hopefully self-improving year.
Overall 2015 was a very jovial year for me, there was nothing bad about it (that I could remember) other than work frustrations - but hey that's inevitable.

For 2016, I've set myself three new goals, they're mostly about learning more and self-improvement. Well, I'm looking forward to sharing all the good stuff with you this year, and I hope you have a great one yourself :)
